Open to first-year students in the College of Engineering, including Computer Science, Data Science, and Physics.
Our aim is to provide you with resources for all facets of college life. The WiE community provides valuable support while promoting achievement, academic engagement, and independence.

This year, we plan to have a variety of academic, social, and career related events. These include, but are not limited to:
No. The WiE community is housed within the co-ed engineering themed floors located in Spruce Hall. WiE residents will benefit from the social, personal, and academic interactions that arise from living in rooms adjacent to one another within the Engineering community floor. WiE residents will also be able to connect with other engineers residing within Spruce Hall as well as share co-ed facilities. 
Regardless of major in the college of engineering, first-year students take many of the same core math, physics, and engineering course. Living in the WiE community gives you the opportunity to easily form out-of-class study groups and a network of support during your first year. You will have the mentorship of an engineering peer mentor who has been through your experience before and will offer you guidance, support, and advice.  
WiE leverages diversity and greater presence of women in the college of engineering. The WiE community not only allows women undergraduates to connect with one another, but also gives them the opportunity to network with women role models who are faculty at the university or professional engineers in industry.   
Additionally, there is a WiE scholarship available to students residing in the community.
A residential peer mentor is unique to the WiE community; no other engagement community provides this level of support for its residents. The peer mentor is an upperclass engineering student appointed by the College of Engineering (CoE) to help the residents of WiE navigate their first year in engineering. The peer mentor provides academic, social, and professional support for WiE members in the form of monthly social activities, office hours, hosting study sessions, one-on-one support, and more! Whatever your question, the WiE peer mentor is there to offer you guidance and advice. 
The WiE peer mentor is a completely separate position from a Resident Assistant (RA). An RA has been hired by Housing & Residential Education and is responsible for assisting housing staff members in day-to-day operations.  
Yes. We welcome roommates that are not engineering majors. The WiE community hosts several social activities throughout the year that your roommate is more than welcome to attend! 
The College of Engineering is currently accepting applications for the Resident Peer Mentor Position for our 2023-24 Women in Engineering Community. 
As a WiE Resident Peer Mentor, you will:
If you have a minimum 2.700 cumulative GPA, a major class standing of sophomore or above, familiar with campus, academic, and support resources within the College of Engineering, exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, and have an ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team setting, then apply now!
