The most expensive property sold in Australia on the weekend is a knock-down job.
The deep block on Sydney's Middle Harbour fetched $5.75 million under the hammer on Friday October 6.
At 177 Seaforth Crescent in Seaforth, the old house – although it comes with plans for a dual luxury build – was the highest sale nationally as reported to Domain for the weekend of auction results.
The waterfront property was sold with a DA-approved outline for two dwellings, designed by architects at Baxter and Jacobson, which can unfold over two stages.
The first step would be to construct a new plush house at the top of the 1813-square-metre block and the next stage is a to build a property on the lower portion, with the view to subdivide the land.
However, the buyer may wish to enact their own vision. As the listing says, "you can start again and design your palatial dream waterfront estate".

The block rolls down to the water of Powder Hulk Bay and is one of the suburb's last waterfront addresses with the scope to be developed.
Listed by agents Maria Cassarino and Laurden Sudol at Stone Real Estate Seaforth, the "original full brick residence" at the the crown of the block is described as being in "knock-down condition".
Aerial imagery in the listing shows tiered gardens, edged in stone, sloping to vegetation at the water end of the block.
