Withdrawal of STANDATA 19-BCV-018(REV2) – Generic Engineered Details for Adhered Masonry Veneer
This bulletin serves to communicate the withdrawal of Variance STANDATA 19-BCV-018(REV2), which pertains to generic engineered details for the utilization of adhered masonry veneer in Part 9 residential buildings.
STANDATA 19-BCI-018(REV2) was introduced to address the application of building codes pertaining to adhered masonry veneer within Part 9 building construction. Originating in 2020, this STANDATA underwent revisions to incorporate relevant engineering documentation updates provided by the Alberta Masonry Council. Specifically, STANDATA 19-BCV-018(REV2) encompassed adhered masonry veneer installations, limited to a maximum height of 3.05 meters above local Grade, for Part 9 residential buildings in Alberta. The currently cited generic engineering documentation has expired on June 30, 2023.
The Alberta Masonry Council has confirmed their decision not to pursue further updates to the mentioned generic engineering documentation. Consequently, STANDATA 19-BCV-018(REV2) has been officially rescinded, effective July 1, 2023.
This withdrawal implies that the generic engineered details provided by STANDATA 19-BCV-018(REV2) will no longer be applicable for adhered masonry veneer installations in Part 9 residential buildings in Alberta and any future proposals will require site-specific engineering approval.
Stakeholders and contractors engaged in Part 9 residential building projects are advised to take note of this withdrawal. If you require further clarification or have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate authorities.
