Most powerful car on earth makes journey across Australia – Big Rigs

Capable of reaching 1600km/h in just over 20 seconds, the Aussie Invader 5R has been transported from Perth, arriving in Victoria yesterday, ahead of the Avalon Airshow next week.

When it comes to unique and impressive loads, this one would have to be right up there.
Built in Perth, the car is the brainchild of Rosco McGlashan OAM, who became dedicated to becoming the “fastest man on earth”. He and his team have spent the better part of the last two decades building and refining a car that would enable him to cement that title. But it’s no ordinary car. It’s powered by a rocket engine.
Running on a single bi-propellant rocket motor, it produces about 200,000hp – and no, that’s not a typo. Weighing 9.2 tonnes when fully fuelled, its speeds are nothing short of incredible. In the 20 seconds it takes to get to 1600km/h, it burns 2.8 tonnes of propellant.
At full speed, it can cover 1.6 kilometres of travel in 3.5 seconds.
The Aussie Invader 5R is the result of 20 years of work by some of the world’s best engineers, aerodynamicists and rocket scientists.
So as you can imagine, when the time comes for it to be transported across Australia, a lot of preparation when into the journey.
Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls was entrusted with the task, travelling from Karratha to Perth to prepare for the trip, and sharing the journey on their Facebook page.
The Aussie Invader 5R was carefully loaded onto a 40’ shipping container and took the oversize route to its destination, approximately 3500km away.
Pulled by a vibrant pink Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls Mack, the truck was driven by Heather Jones.
A truckie for over 30 years, she is co-founder of Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls, which helps women get their start in the industry.
Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls said it was thrilled to be tasked with transporting the Aussie Invader 5R to the Avalon Airshow, which will be held at Avalon Airport in Geelong, from February 28 to March 5.
