A new housing area will be considered by the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.
Called the Lazy Tree subdivision, it would be located at the northwest end of the Fort Dodge Country Club golf course.
But before the council begins to talk about houses, it will be updated on the youth exchange program with Kosovo.
The council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S. with a workshop on the Kosovo youth exchange.
In 2016, Fort Dodge entered a sister city relationship with Gjakova, which is in Kosovo, a nation in the Balkans area of Europe. Since then, groups of Fort Dodge teenagers have regularly visited Gjakova.
The council’s business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. That’s when the Lazy Tree subdivision will be discussed.
The proposal calls for an 11.2 acre housing area in the golf course, which is east of U.S. Highway 169 and north of Second Avenue South.
The council will consider the first reading of a measure to change the site’s zoning from a conservation designation to a residential one.
Council members will also consider awarding a $936,000 contract to McClure Engineering Co., of Fort Dodge, for designing some major upcoming water projects.
Those projects include:
• A water main connection on the northwest side
• Connection improvements at the water tower on South 32nd Street
• Water valve replacement throughout the city
• A new water main along Kenyon Road between U.S. Highway 169 and Triton Circle
• Water main replacement between Avenue O and Avenue B
• Water main replacement on North Seventh Street by Loomis Park
