As the pickleball craze takes off in Australia, this homeowner has taken it to the next level by putting a court in their backyard, and for keen players, the Beecroft home is on the market with a price guide of $4.5m.
Pickleball, which is a combination of ping pong, tennis and badminton, has experienced huge growth in Australia, following suit from its popularity in the US which has become the fastest growing sport in the country.

It is now estimated that there are 12,000-15,000 pickleball players in Australia, with 70 clubs and associations around the country.
Other stars who are enthralled by the sport include Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez who is allegedly invested in a pickleball business, and the late Matthew Perry was said to be playing the day he passed.

The vendors of the home at 12 Hull St were renovating during the Covid lockdown and were inspired by seeing dream courts built on The Block 2022.
“We had a vision to create a home that we literally did not need or want to leave. It was important for us to maximise our outdoor living spaces and the opportunity for an active family lifestyle,” the owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.
“We removed the old full size tennis court, making way for a 12m pool that’s heated for all year-round use. We kept part of the original tennis court and converted it to a multi-sport court.”

Listing agent Belinda Hill from McGrath Beecroft said it is a “dream family property.”
“It’s the most perfect property for kids because no one is on their phones, they are outside having fun and being active,” she said.
Ms Hill said the family who own the property thought it was a great idea to have the multi-use basketball and pickleball court.
“The kids in the family who are selling the property have hosted an annual pickleball competition where they invite family and neighbours – even Grandma plays,” she said.
