The luxury Strathfield residence owned by Daniel Tartak, of the rich list Bingo Industries family, was slipped onto a property marketing website late on Friday billed as a “masterpiece of rare distinction” ahead of a forthcoming auction.
There was no guide on offer and McGrath’s Michael Murphy, who has listed it with lead agent Tarun Sethi, said the owners did not want any publicity for the listing.

That’s understandable. Things have not gone well for Tartak since 2021 when he was chief executive of the family founded waste management giant and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets had completed a $2.3 billion company takeover.

Since then, an investigation by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission revealed Tartak was involved in price fixing in the demolition waste industry in 2019, to which Tartak pleaded guilty in October last year. He is currently awaiting sentence in the Federal Court and faces as much as 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $444,000 or both.
The son of Bingo Industries founder Tony Tartak has owned his Strathfield house since 2011, paying $2.85 million for the six-bedroom house with home cinema, swimming pool and tennis court.
The Tartaks own some of Strathfield’s top houses, including a $10.78 million mansion purchased by Camilla Tartak in 2021, although family matriarch Mary Tartak calls home a $40 million apartment in Crown’s One Barangaroo tower.
Formal wear designer Danielle Vlahos, co-founder of Portia & Scarlett with Vicki Vlahos, has claimed the Homebush house price record thanks to her purchase of historic Stockman Manor for $7.425 million.

Vlahos and her husband, Makka Constructions boss Pierre Makhlouf are already locals, having sold their Strathfield home two years ago for $4.87 million.
The rag trade has been a lucrative one for the Vlahos cousins. Vicki set a Gladesville house price record in 2020 when she sold for $10.25 million to move to Tennyson Point waterfront.
Stockman Manor was sold by Lavender Bay-bound Lynda Van Der Weegan, wife of medico entrepreneur Dr Chris Douglas.
Sydney’s Mr Fix It Grant Vandenberg and his wife, star Qantas hostie Lisa Vandenberg have listed their Centennial Park home of the past quarter of a century with a $13 million guide.

The Agency’s Ben Collier has set a September 23 auction.
It replaces Romahampa on the local market shelf, which was sold by Collier to David Allingham, of fund manager Eley Griffiths Group, and his wife Alexandra Schilbach for $11.65 million.
Allingham and Schilbach are following the very well-worn track to Centennial Park from Paddington, where records show they recently sold their terrace for $5.77 million.
Romahampa last traded 75 years ago when bought by the late Supreme Court judge Theodore Simos, who as a QC represented the British government in the Spycatcher trial up against Malcolm Turnbull.
Collier sold the Simos family’s adjoining vacant block for $11 million to ears, nose and throat surgeon Michael Barakate and his medico wife Johanna Barakate.
A month before Tom Fennell, of Tama Capital investment firm, made tabloid headlines in May for his lavish 50th birthday, title records show he had already purchased himself a present for $10.95 million.
The Bellevue Hill house was most notably owned by Dubai’s crown prince Sheik Mohammed Al Maktoum’s Darley operation until 2016 when it last sold for $6.85 million.
Fennell has been renting on the Point Piper waterfront, according to corporate records, since he separated from his former wife, charity fundraiser Vanessa Fennell.
Wigram is the Longueville estate built by Colonel Wigram and sold this week by Phil and Kerry Coffey.
As Longueville’s Otahki estate owned by Danita Lowe and bank industry leader David Fite was being shown quietly to buyers with a spare $50 million or so, a sold sticker went up on the historic house next door, Wigram, owned by Macquarie Group’s Phil Coffey and his wife Kerry.

McGrath’s Tracey Dixon and Sam Lloyd couldn’t be talked into divulging the result, so it remains unknown how it measured up against the recent $19.25 million purchase up the road by former Greatland Gold chief Gervaise Heddle.
Longueville has clearly come a long way since Brett Whiteley was running amok as a boy. A Stanic Harding Architects-designed house that set a suburb high of $11.88 million in 2018 has returned to the market with a $20 million guide by Sotheby’s Clint Ballard and Belle’s Simon Harrison.
It is owned by Avionics managing director Nick Brumley, who purchased it from real estate mogul Ping Wei and Ye Zhou.
UK private equity investor Thomas Fussell and his wife Louise have traded up their Pearl Beach weekender buying a $12.25 million beachfront house from Linda Cunningham, wife of former Goldman Sachs group treasurer Michael Cunningham.

Fussell, who co-founded intelligence software Fast Search and sold it to Microsoft in 2008 for $1.2 billion, first landed on Pearl Beach title records in 2021 when he bought a cottage at the prized north-facing end of the beach for $7.7 million.
Two years later he has handed the cottage keys back to Coast Realty’s Stuart Gan with a 2023 guide of $8.5 million.
