The Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Scholarships Program TAFE/University 2022 cohort is now closed.
This portfolio-wide scholarships program for secondary, TAFE, and university students was developed in support of the transport portfolio following the launch of the Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Self-Determination Plan 2020-2023 in November 2020.
The program is supported by the three transport Ministers and aims to achieve the 2% Aboriginal employment target set for the Victorian Public Sector. It is designed with the central aim of creating a long-term pipeline of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander talent and career and leadership development in the transport portfolio.
The program was launched in 2021 and will run for a three-year period. Twenty-one scholarships were awarded in 2021 to 19 secondary and two university students.
2023 applications for TAFE and university students will be published in December 2022.
The Digital Jobs Program(opens in a new window) aims to build the state’s digital workforce by training and upskilling mid-career Victorians so they can transition into digital careers.
Over the next three years, the program will support 5,000 mid-career Victorians to complete a six-month program that includes 12 weeks of industry-backed training followed by 12 weeks in a paid digital job with a Victorian business.
DTP is working with the Department of Jobs, Precincts, and Regions and recruitment agency Hudson to provide meaningful employment to Victorians with digital skills looking to re-enter the workforce.
With the demand for digital skills in Victorian businesses growing rapidly, the Victorian Government’s Digital Jobs Program is building a new talent pool of great people with digital skills to help meet this demand.

The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) Disability Stream(opens in a new window) is a newly implemented program designed to provide a pathway for young people with a disability into the Victorian public service and our agencies.
A whole-of-government initiative, YES is an important part of the department’s workforce planning and strategy development.
It helps the department meet future skill and employment needs by employing young people facing barriers to employment who are aged from 15 to 29 years.
YES trainees in the disability stream are sourced through our partnership with the Department of Jobs, Precincts, and Regions and employed by a group training organisation (GTO) with DTP hosting the trainee.
The GTO provides training and support to the trainee as well as administration functions relating to taxation and superannuation payments.
Traineeships are for a 12-month fixed term, composed of performing administrative tasks, whereby young people study towards completing a certificate level qualification.
