A buyer based in Switzerland has swooped in and bought a $2.65 million Sydney home without inspecting it.
The couple, who are relocating from Zurich to Australia, made the decision to bid at 10pm the day before the December 2 auction, according to selling agency Ray White's weekend auction report.
Five bidders registered for the chance to own 178 Hereford St, Forest Lodge, but two were active during the auction, including the couple from overseas, who will see their stunning new purchase at a later date.
Matthew Carvalho from Ray White Surry Hills was tasked with the sale of the handsome, balconied, three-bedroom Victorian terrace.
The sellers, a young family, are upsizing.
"The supply is starting to get tighter towards the end of the year, and buyers are being a bit more disciplined after that last rate rise," Mr Carvalho said in the agency's report.
"The market seems to be very property specific with some things performing well and some things being a bit harder. That mid-range sized terraces like this one seem to be doing quite well."

The property comes with plans for an extension, top and bottom, including a larger main bedroom suite.
"While it's move-in ready and offers a delightful living experience, there are numerous exciting opportunities to craft a modern masterpiece, as it comes with approved DA plans for an extension spanning both levels and a third-level master/ 4th bedroom with en suite retreat," the listing advises.
The home has a classic terrace floorplan, with living and dining rooms at the front, warmed by open fireplaces, and a sleek, modern kitchen beyond.
Upstairs are the three bedrooms, including main with private access to the balcony and a fireplace, and a large attic comprising a third level.

An impeccable, paved rear courtyard with hedged garden beds connects to parking and lane access.
The listing notes the blend of heritage architecture and more casual, modern style.
High ceilings – soaring 3.2 metres – with decorative roses, French doors upstairs to the balcony and lace iron work speak to its origins.
The median house price in Forest Lodge, an inner-city suburb, 4km south west of the CBD, cannot be obtained by Domain, due to a low volume of sales.
