Sprintex Ltd (ASX:SIX) has taken receipt of its first production order from UK technology company Aeristech Limited for the manufacture of high-speed electric compressors to suit hydrogen fuel cell applications.
Under a collaboration agreement signed by the companies in September 2021, Sprintex manufactures e-compressors for Aeristech.
Following a year of design, rigorous testing and engineering validation, Aeristech has placed its first production order for 50 units of the new S15 6-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell compressor from Sprintex.
The initial order is for US$72,500 (around A$108,000). Further orders are expected to follow for the two larger models included in the agreement, the S20 (10 kilowatts) and S39 (25 kilowatts) units.
The two companies have worked together in recent months, with Sprintex successfully completing two other design programs for Aeristech earlier in the year.

Sprintex managing director Jay Upton said: “We are very pleased to achieve this milestone in our collaboration with Aeristech and proud to supply our first batch of production compressors.”
The production order follows customer interest at the recent World Hydrogen Expo in Bremen, Germany, at which numerous non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) were signed with many key players in the hydrogen energy sector which the company expects will lead to further orders.
Upton continued, “I was really excited to see the level of interest and activity in this market segment and the level of demand for our high-efficiency electric compressors to meet the upcoming mandated reduction of carbon emissions from road vehicles in many advanced markets around the world.”
Sprintex is a clean air compressor engineering, research, product development and manufacturing company, incorporated in Australia in 2003.
The company designs and manufactures electric and mechanically driven clean air compressors for use in a wide variety of applications, including:
Founded in 2006, Aeristech is a global leading technology company of advanced electric motor and controller systems, winning the UK Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2020.
Aeristech’s technology is based on patented control architecture that enables it to produce the world’s fastest accelerating and most power-dense permanent magnet variable speed electric motors.
These are ideal for applications where efficiency, power density and speed are essential, such as for fuel cells and industrial air compressors.
The patented system allows motors to accelerate to 160,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) in less than a second.
The technology also uses fewer semiconductor components and generates less heat than competitive products.
