Eight industry leading Western Australian businesses are set to showcase their products on the world stage during the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exposition this week.
Defence Industry Minister Paul Papalia is leading the local delegation to the global showcase, which runs from 12-15 September, with the aim of expanding business collaboration opportunities with global partners.
Held bi-annually, DSEI is the largest defence and security expo in Europe. This year, it will feature more than 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world, highlighting defence and technology growth areas, as well as the development of new technologies.
An International Business Forum will be held as part of the expo, allowing high-level corporate networking and supplier discussions to take place.
While in the UK, Minister Papalia will also visit Royal Navy sustainment operations, as WA prepares to enhance its capability for the AUKUS Submarine Rotational Force-West (SRF-West).
Comments attributed to Defence Industry Minister Paul Papalia:
“The Defence and Security Equipment International expo presents an incredible opportunity for Western Australian companies to impress and grow business opportunities with international partners.
“WA businesses are often world-leaders when it comes to the creation of innovative and emerging technologies because of the expertise and skills developed through servicing the State’s thriving mining sector.
“From autonomous underwater vehicles to rapidly deployable communications towers, and medically accurate training aids, the travelling businesses will showcase their unique products to global industry leaders.
“During the trip, I’ll be investigating the best ways WA can grow its workforce and infrastructure to meet the needs of the AUKUS agreement.”
