When Sanchia Brahimi bought her harbourfront luxury apartment in Woolloomooloo in late 2021 Sydney’s property boom was nearing its peak and her $11.7 million purchase price ranked among the top sales in the landmark Finger Wharf.
So, when Brahimi returned her four-bedroom spread to the market early this year with a guide of $10.5 million it was regarded as a good test of how values at the rarefied top end of the market have been tracking in the 18 months she owned it.
At the time Highland Double Bay’s David Malouf said he was “smashed” by inquiries ahead of the scheduled March 2 auction, and it was an encouraging sign that shortly before the auction it was snapped up by a buyer.

But a few weeks later, and despite a recent report in other media that it has sold, the mystery buyer has failed to complete the more than $10.5 million deal, prompting the apartment to be returned to the market with a new auction date set for coming weeks.

Not that Brahimi has done badly from her own sales at the height of the boom. The daughter of former rich listers, philanthropists Charles and Eva Curran, sold her long-held Vaucluse home that she had previously shared with her ex-husband, celebrity chef Guillaume Brahimi, for $17 million in 2021.
Malouf was not available to comment on the renewed campaign on Tuesday, but property records show a mixed bag of high-end sales results this year.
A lack of stock in the ultra-prestige market and limited sales in this range means little data available, but anecdotal evidence tells a patchy story.
In Manly, gold bullion dealers Kurt and Nathalie Jaggard sold their harbourside apartment for more than $10 million last week, doubling the $4.52 million they paid in 2020, and TV star Jackie “O” Henderson sold her Woollahra house earlier this year for $13 million, making a $2 million gain on her three-year ownership, and the Paddington home of model-turned-environmental scientist Ilse O’Reilly sold for $5.6 million, having last traded two years earlier for $5.25 million.
Meanwhile, the landmark 1960s residence in Woollahra once owned by the late Kerry Packer was purchased by bitcoin miner James Manning for $16 million in mid-2021 and resold in October last year for $15.5 million to property developer Nabil Gazal Jnr.
And the Bellevue Hill trophy home, Tarrant, which was listed with $20 million hopes last year sold earlier this year for $13 million.
The four-bedroom apartment is among the most expensive sales at the Finger Wharf.
Brahimi’s Woolloomooloo spread with Fleming Design interiors was previously sold by Malouf on behalf of Lisa Corban, wife of Wollongong car dealer Michael Corban, who had undertaken a major renovation of it since buying it a decade earlier.
It is a consolidation of three apartments in the wharf development, of which the most expensive are also consolidations: Russell Crowe’s consolidation of apartments was purchased in 2003 for $14.35 million and veteran radio broadcaster John Laws set a high of $15 million a year later.
An earlier version of this story said the apartment was a consolidation of two apartments. In fact, it is a consolidation of three.
