Rosebank Engineering, one of Australia’s leading aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) providers, announced the activation of its F-35 Lightning II Wheels & Brakes Repair Depot at its Bayswater facility in Melbourne, Victoria.
This significant development positions Rosebank as a key service provider under the Global Support Solution for F-35 aircraft operating in, or deployed to, the Indo-Pacific Region.
Rosebank is now positioned to deliver world-class services to ensure the mission readiness and operational effectiveness of F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
Drawing on Rosebank’s long history of MRO support to the Royal Australian Air Force, the activation of this specialised depot marks an important milestone in Rosebank’s F-35 MRO strategy and reinforces its commitment to providing world-class support to the F-35 enterprise, and assets deployed in the region.
Operating under sub-contract to F- 35 aircraft OEM and global sustainment prime contractor Lockheed Martin, Rosebank is the preferred Component Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul & Upgrade (CMRO&U) assignee on five Repair Technology Groups (RTGs) of the F-35 platform in the Indo-Pacific Region. Activation of the Wheels & Brakes repair capability is the first of several activations planned over the coming decade.
In establishing this capability, Rosebank has partnered with the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and the Australian Department of Defence.
“Rosebank Engineering’s activation of the Wheels and Brakes repair capability is a fantastic achievement for Australian industry and will provide significant regional support to the F-35 enterprise” noted Kirrilee McNeill, director industry, Aerospace Combat Systems Branch, Department of Defence.
“Rosebank Engineering is proud to play a critical role in supporting the F-35 Lightning II program in the region,” said Aidan Butler-Bonnice, general manager at Rosebank Engineering.
“The activation of our F-35 Wheels & Brakes Repair Depot has been many years in the making and reinforces our commitment to providing quality maintenance and repair services not only to the RAAF, but all F-35 operators in the Indo-Pacific Region. We look forward to working closely with our partners and customers to ensure the continued operational success of this remarkable aircraft.”
“Rosebank’s Wheels & Brakes repair and overhaul capability for the F-35 showcases our dedication to developing sustainment capabilities with our partners serving the most advanced fighter jet in the world,” said Matthew Milas, president, Defence and Space for Honeywell Aerospace.
“Australia is a key partner for the F-35, and Honeywell is proud to continue to support technologies aboard the F-35 across the globe.”
“Rosebank Engineering’s new F-35 Wheels & Brakes Repair facility will provide critical support infrastructure to F-35 fleets operating in the Indo-Pacific Region including the Royal Australian Air Force,” said Rob Weitzman, Lockheed Martin program director for F-35 Australia.
“This is an example of Australia’s world-class engineering capabilities and demonstrates how the F-35 program is contributing significantly to the growth and development of Australia’s defence industry capabilities. In fact, more than 70 Australian companies together have been awarded over $4.13 billion in global production and sustainment contracts through the F-35 program to date.”
