The City of Weyburn’s Public Works Transportation department recently wrapped up its residential snow removal program, which took place from January 6th to 26th.
Jennifer Wilkinson, Director of Engineering for the City of Weyburn, explained that the program included any residential street as defined by their snow routes, “So, to give you an idea, there were over 1900 man-hours worked to remove the snow from the residential areas,” Wilkinson said.
“So, that was primarily City of Weyburn employees,” Wilkinson explained about the hardworking snow removal crews but added they did also have some contractors that helped them in certain areas as well.
To give an idea of the City of Weyburn equipment that was used for the snow removal in January, Wilkinson shared that they had three graders, one snow blower, two loaders, five trucks, and one salt and sand truck.
She provided some examples of the amount of snow that was removed from the residential streets by the City of Weyburn employees.
"So, we'll take Tom Hart Drive, they removed 38 tandem truckloads of snow off of it in that cleaning. A bigger one, Dieppe Drive, it had 85.5 tandem truckloads of snow removed off the street."
"So, in those situations when we do the full residential and take all the snow away," she explained, "We do see a significant amount of snow taken off of those streets and that is a lot of man-hours and days put into get them down to that."
