About the role
We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct research to innovate new methods of building fibre based networks including the use of robotics for pipe / pit inspection, sensing, remote sensing, build innovations to reduce the cost, environmental and consumer impact of constructing large scale underground and overhead network infrastructure. Additional potential projects will also include the ability to assess network inventory database accuracy through Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence and network telemetry.
This position will work in the newly formed Broadband Technology Research Unit (BTRU) in the faculty of Engineering and information technology. This research unit funded by industry and UTS over a 5-year programme to establish a world-class research team in telecommunications and broadband technology that drives innovation, applied research, and industry collaboration to benefit society and empower graduates with cutting-edge, industry relevant skills and knowledge. With access to a production telecommunications nationwide network and associated data as well as close collaboration with industry peers this position will suit candidates seeking to make impact with their research and very close industry co-operation.
In this role you will be responsible for supervising PhD students, establish effective research collaborations with both industrial and academic partners, publish research papers and participate in research grant applications.
About you
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, as well as analyse and solve problems.  To be successful in this role you will have considerable experience in robotics, civil infrastructure, inventory management systems and data, and/or data analytics and tools.

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $114,836 to $135,915 pa (Level B)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a 4 year fixed term basis
