OROVILLE — A public hearing regarding the proposed Feather Ranch Subdivision will highlight the Oroville City Council’s regular meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The council will consider an override of the Airport Land Use Commission inconsistency determination for a proposed 172-unit market rate single family subdivision off 20th Street, between Feather Avenue and Biggs Avenue, in the far western portion of the city. The council will also consider whether to rezone the land to R-1 — single-family residential.
In regular business, the council will discuss numerous important road projects in progress, with construction set to begin during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 fiscal years. City staff requests direction regarding projects on Washington Avenue and Linden Avenue.
In another paving-related matter, a representative from Caltrans will update the council on a pavement rehabilitation project on Oro Dam Boulevard — Highway 162 — that will get underway in 2025. The work will run from the Feather River bridge to Foothill Boulevard and will include various components such as new pavement, new traffic signals, features compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, and improved street lighting.
The meeting’s consent agenda includes such items as a request to waive a portion of city fees related to the 2023 Hmong New Year celebration, scheduled for October in Nelson Avenue Sports Complex; a software purchase by the city; whether to contract with two engineering firms and a real estate brokerage; and inspection of an approach path indicator at Oroville Municipal Airport.
The council will also discuss a memorandum of understanding between the city and the Oroville City Elementary School District for a school resource officer.
Closed session at the meeting gets underway at 4 p.m. as the council hears from the city administrator and city attorney regarding potential litigation the city faces.
Council meetings take place at Oroville City Council Chambers, 1735 Montgomery St.
