WHAT: Township trustees meetings Sept. 25 and Oct. 23
PRESENT: Pete Augusta, Doreen Lutz and John Nemet
Trustees:
• Approved $44,281 to Shelly and Sands for the paving of Grand Boulevard. The improvement project is underway and expected to be completed by Nov. 15. Ohio Public Works Commission funds are covering $17,256.
• Adopted a resolution declaring properties unfit and to submit the property addresses to the Trumbull County Land Bank in application for the demolition program funded by the Department of Development Building and Site Revitalization. Addresses are: 4813 Bate St., 2461 Newton Tomlinson, 2301 Juanita, 5639 Ravenna, 2230 Broadview, 2261 Lorain Ave. and 5311 Shady St.
• Heard from Zoning Inspector Ron Hedge that no improvements have been made at a Ravenna Road property and the township may need to get property declared unfit and proceed with demolition.
• Reported work will begin on the Scott Street Phase 1 sewer project. Augusta said once phase 2 is completed, he wants to have catch basins put in the sinkhole that is on the road and use the old line to divert the stormwater.
• Approved paying the second half of 2023 payment to the joint fire district for fire and emergency medical service. The balance of the amount approved in January is $29,369.
• Heard from Stan Bell of the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office that current engineering plans in place should be used if a quote is sought for rebuilding the cemetery footbridge in lieu of having to pay for new engineering plans.
• Heard from Fiscal Officer Susan Montgomery, who reported that the township still has the opportunity to apply for American Rescue Plan funds from the county. Montgomery said $180,000 could still be available for the township for general projects.
• Heard from resident Thomas Vickers who spoke on residential solar options and the benefits of solar farms.
