A buyer has secured a historic piece of Sydney transport that dates back to 1907.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 10 Hancock Street in Rozelle was formerly the Balmain Tramway Substation and is the last of its kind in New South Wales.
Now a warehouse-style property spanning three levels, the home sold on August 7 for an undisclosed price. On the books of Chris Nunn and Hanna Kim of BresicWhitney Inner West, it had a price guide of $3.7 million.
Listing photos reveal the incredible interior space, with the tramway substation's electrical equipment taking centre stage in the main living zone.
Tramway substations are located near tram routes and contain the electrical equipment required to provide the power supply to the tram network.
Kim previously told Nine that the building was a commercial space for a long time and not suitable for residence.
There were plans for it to be knocked down and made into a carpark. However, the local council lobbied for it to be restored and "passed down as a sellable asset".
The previous owner, executive director of Taronga Zoo Simon Duffy, spent the past two or so years making a few renovations to the home.
Kim said Duffy transformed the "open space into more of a home with dedicated zones for bedrooms".

"It's just such a striking building," Duffy says in a recent BresicWhitney blog post.
"It's part of the fabric of the area and a tram network that connected this area to Glebe and The Tramsheds at Forest Lodge. Those buildings are another example of a beautifully preserved environment."
"The electricity that fed into this Rozelle warehouse also came from the White Bay Power Station at the foot of the Anzac Bridge, so this is all part of the history of the Inner West. It's all connected," Duffy adds.
The property had only been on the market for just over a week but attracted significant interest, Kim said.
Although the brick exterior remains relatively unchanged, the interiors are a different story.

Industrial-style details can be seen in the polished concrete and hardwood flooring, exposed brickwork and black statement walls with gyprock panels.
Statement art features on the walls. However the home's pièce de résistance is by far the tramway substation's electrical equipment that remains in the main living zone.
As stated on the listing, the basement space below the main living area once accommodated electrical cables.
Rozelle is a residential suburb in Sydney's inner west, 4km west of the CBD. It's a trendy location known for its cafes, eateries, bars and boutiques.
Domain's latest data reveals the median price for a four-bedroom home in Rozelle is $2,733,000.
