42 Coachmans Close, Sapphire Beach, has disappeared from realestate.com.au and the talk is that the property has sold in the “mid $20m range
Embattled former coal billionaire Nathan Tinkler has sold his incredible $30m mega mansion ahead of a planned private auction, with the result smashing regional coastal records.

The ex-owner of the Newcastle Knights NRL team listed the sprawling 15-bedroom, 15-bathroom spread on a 2.04 hectare beachfront block at 42 Coachmans Close, Sapphire Beach at the start of June via listing agents James McCowan and David Medina of Sotheby’s.
Neither picked up the phone this afternoon, but alerts showed the property disappearing from realestate.com.au indicating a sale.
The talk in the town is that the pair had a number of buyers circling and while the price won’t be known until settlement, a result in the “mid $20m range” is rumoured.

The luxury residence has incredible ocean views from most rooms.
That would not only smash Coffs Harbour records, but it also beats Byron Bay’s coastal record of $23m paid by the AfterPay co-founder Anthony Eisen at Wategos Beach along with Justin Hemmes recent $22m purchase at Belongil Beach.
It’s most certainly a regional coastal record, although oceanfront homes in Sydney have gone for more, with a Tamarama property selling for $45m to advertising guru David Droga on May 10.
Along with the Knights, Tinkler had also owned the Newtown Jets A-League team; a private jet, helicopters, a fleet of luxury cars and thoroughbred horse studs.
But it all came crashing down in around 2013, with him declared bankrupt three years later with debts of more than $540m.
What a location!
The home was designed by architect Rosalie Stollery, who was commissioned by the previous owners.
There are two pools on the property.

While the sales agents have been tongue-tied about the reasons for the sale, there are rumours that the funds from the deal will be channelled to creditors.
Tinkler set a Mid North Coast record when he purchased the Sapphire Beach home for $11.5 million in 2008 from the former Microsoft exec, Jaybe Ammons and his wife, Shelley.
They’d called on architect Rosalie Stollery to design the magnificent property, which housed the main house plus two stand-alone villas.
There are multiple living areas.
The master suite is impressive.
But the other 14 bedrooms are also very special.
There were epic ocean views from almost every room and private beach access, plus two pools and a children’s playground.
“Imagine a life of unmatched elegance and unrivalled luxury, the crown jewel nestled in an esteemed locale,” the marketing collateral for the home had read.
According to PropTrack, the median house price in Sapphire Beach is $1.3m.
