Lithium Universe (ASX:LU7) has selected privately held Primero Group to oversee the engineering study required for the company to build a lithium concentrator.
Primero will undertake a study to assess the ins and outs of building a concentrator, which will be used to facilitate the full vision of the company’s Quebec Lithium Processing Hub (QLPH).
Primero has worked in the industrial engineering field since 2011 and has recently pivoted towards lithium extraction and downstream refining.
The company will provide Lithium Universe with everything the company needs to know in advance of building a standalone multi-purpose concentrator able to produce 1Mtpa.
“We are fortunate to partner with a group such as Primero who has extensive lithium process design experience,” LU7 Chairman Iggy Tan said.
“Their experience includes the Bald Hill Lithium project, Core Lithium’s Finniss project, Covalent Lithium’s Mt Holland project, Allkem’s James Bay project, Piedmont lithium project, and Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora project.
“The design of the QLPH concentrator will be closely directed and supervised by the LU7 team of lithium experts.”
Lithium Universe most recently appointed four new executive members to its C-suite, most with experience at Galaxy Resources, which later became Allkem.
The company is based in Canada’s James Bay region, the hottest emerging tier-one lithium province of 2023.
