The School of Engineering is one of five schools in the College and is one of the most research-intensive Schools within the University. It consists of four major Discipline groupings that are responsible for delivering most of the engineering degree specialisations in the University. The School is rated number one in Australia for the quality of overall experience for undergraduate engineering students and for median salaries with 94% of our engineering undergraduates finding employment within four months of completing their studies.
The research focus in the School of Engineering ensures that students are exposed to cutting edge, world-class thinking and are taught by staff who are at the forefront of developments in their chosen field. A number of pioneering inventions have been developed within the School that have gone on to be patented and commercialised.
Aerospace Systems Engineering is one of the fastest growing and highest demand sub-disciplines in both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. The Hunter region has the highest density of industry customers in Australia that need skills in aerospace systems engineering. The region is not only home to both the RAAF Base at Williamtown (the RAAF’s command, operations, and training base for the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)) and the Williamtown Aerospace Centre (WAC), it also hosts many of the systems integration companies that support new RAAF aircraft and projects.
This Lecturer role represents an exciting and unique opportunity to deliver and evolve the only Australian University program in Aerospace Systems Engineering as well as to develop partnerships with these important Aerospace industry bodies. The successful candidate will work across all areas of academic activity: education, research and engagement. They will be part of an innovative team, where they will utilise their demonstrated skills in blended learning to develop and deliver high-quality student-centred undergraduate and postgraduate programs. They will build and foster skills in research and deliver high impact research. They will make a positive contribution to a culture of innovation and experience for students and engage and work with industry on challenging research problems.

This full-time ongoing position will be located at the Callaghan Campus. The University supports flexible work arrangements which may negotiated to meet a candidate’s personal circumstances.
How will you become part of our research community?
With a passion for teaching and a flair for researching in an Engineering discipline, you have proven experience in working autonomously, multi-tasking and prioritising to provide adaptive teaching methods, such as online teaching and the demonstration of online tutorials. You will have capability and eagerness to engage and network with external associations, to secure research funding and to assist industry in solving highly complex technical problems. You will have a PhD and sound experience in producing quality research publications and outcomes; publications in the field of Aerospace Systems will be favourably considered.
How will we support you?
The remuneration is $103,221 to $122,576, plus 17% superannuation.
