2-5 July: 14th Australia and New Zealand Conference on Geomechanics

The Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) and New Zealand Geotechnical Society (NZGS) welcome you to the ANZ2023 conference. ANZ2023 is a regional conference of the ISSMGE, and continues the tradition of an Australasian event being held on a four year cycle (in between the ICSMGE conferences).

4-5 July: Energy group – natural hydrogen: A new frontier for energy geoscience

This conference hosted by The Geological Society will address how geoscience can be applied to the exploration for natural hydrogen and will focus on developing the geological understanding and application towards exploiting natural hydrogen.

6 July: Kalvebod tunnel and shaft induced settlement automation: Using Autodesk Dynamo tool and Civil 3D

This talk presents a tool (TunDRA) developed for the automatic generation of ground settlements assessments due to the 1.25km long Kalvebod Brygge Skybrudstunnel Drainage Tunnel with three shafts. The tool was based on Autodesk Dynamo and Civil 3D, which have been used in the past for highway linear schemes, but this application is novel for tunnel settlements.

Woodmace Concrete Structures will be hosting an early morning guided tour of the civil engineering works underway at West Quay Marina in Poole, Dorset. The company is undertaking the groundworks, substructure, and drainage for a residential apartment block, situated by the waterside. The site visit will be followed by a talk at the nearby RNLI centre.

13 July and 27 July: BGA ECG and BTSYM – Brief introduction to Python in Plaxis

The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) Early Careers Group (ECG) and British Tunnelling Society Young Members (BTSYM) are running a four session CPD course titled “A Brief Introduction to Python in Plaxis” that will provide insights on how you can use Python to speed up your Plaxis modelling both pre and post analysis.
The third course on 13 July will cover “Using Python to extract results”. The fourth course on 27 July will cover “Using Python to visualise data”. They will charge £5 for this session only.
