The University of Queensland (UQ) ranks amongst the world’s top universities. It has more than 56,000 students studying across three campuses, including around 20,000 postgraduate and 21,000 international students. UQ’s six faculties, eight globally recognised research institutes and more than 100 research centres attract an interdisciplinary community of 2,500 academics and researchers who champion research excellence and continue UQ’s tradition of research leadership.
This role provides the opportunity to lead a high performing faculty experiencing significant growth. The Faculty has sector-leading resources and facilities, well established international links and high student demand, especially in the areas of IT. One of the most comprehensive and diverse portfolios of its type in Australia, UQ has particular strengths in energy, defence, mining and geosciences, a broad range of fields of engineering and sustainability. More information on the Faculty is available at www.eait.uq.edu.au
The Executive Dean plays a key governance role as a member of the University Senior Executive Team (USET), therefore it requires a mature and strategic leader who is highly collaborative and can work effectively across the interfaces between Faculty disciplines as well as other faculties and research institutes. The University is seeking a person with an outstanding research track record, combined with the demonstrated leadership skills to successfully lead a dynamic and complex faculty. Also important is the ability to engage externally, both locally and internationally, and promote and profile the Faculty both within the sector as well as to industry and the broader community.
