Chris Sheedy is a professional writer whose work has taken him to the UK, USA, Europe and China. He has a fascination with big things – ideas, organisations, infrastructure, achievements, brands – and the people and processes required to make them a reality.
While pleasing to see volunteers generically and specifically acknowledged, there is not a mention of Regional Groups throughout this article which is sad as their volunteers work tirelessly to provide CPD opportunities to the profession, expose the attributes of engineering to their local communities and as career choice to local schools.
I have to say, in my nine years of participating in the Committee of our Southern Highlands and Tablelands Regional Group (Sydney Division) including 3 years as Chair, we are, despite sterling efforts from Committee, starting to lose our relevance.
