Garry Rogers Motorsport has turned to Eden Thornburrow as its replacement for Nathan Herne in the National Trans Am Series.
Thornburrow has two seasons under his belt, but has big shoes to fill after Herne crushed allcomers to cruise to back to back titles and is off to take on America.
Thornburrow has been racing in the Trans Am scene since 2021, where he finished second best to Herne after a consistent and solid campaign.
Last year he remained a fighter, featuring in and around the top 10, but struggled to reach the same heights and had to settle for P9 in the championship.

Despite the team switch, Sydney Property Care will continue to support the youngster.
He said he lacked the pace to keep up with the leaders last year and hopes the more “refined” approach from GRM could give him a boost.
“Last year I was consistent, but we just lacked outright speed, we’d get it right for the end of the weekend but in Trans Am you need to be rolling out on the pace early on,” said Thornburrow.
“The GRM cars are quite different to what I’d been driving, they feel much more refined in every aspect and I feel that’s going to help me take that next step in my achievements in 2023.”
The program was driven by two-time Supercars champion and NASCAR Cup Series race winner Marcos Ambrose.
Thornburrow said the experience opened his eyes to the professional world of racing and he looks forward to tapping into that expertise this year.
“It’s really exciting to be joining Garry Rogers Motorsport after I got my first taste of the team back in 2022 and developed that further at the most recent Combine,” Thornburrow explained.
“It’s an extremely professional outfit but it also has a great camaraderie and I have already built great relationships not only with the current drivers, but also the engineers and mechanics who I’ll be working with this year.
“My car is at the workshop now and it’s receiving a bit of a Birthday, with a new motor and gearbox going in. It will be just like driving a new car when I get back behind the wheel, which I’m really excited for.
“Thanks to Barry, Garry and Marcos Ambrose who have been a big part of me joining the team, he’s really pushed me along and helped me develop as a driver.”
Thornburrow’s GRM journey will begin at the AWC Race Tasmania event on February 24-26.
