RESIDENTS of a housing block in Dartmouth Park want planners to reject a bid to erect phone mast equipment on the roof. An engineering company working for big mobile networks has identified Crestview in the Dartmouth Park area as a spot for its equipment – but needs the council to say yes.
“Crestview is located in one of London’s most attractive residential area – visitors often make that comment,” said one message of opposition sent to the planning department. “But then they tend to add that it’s unfortunate that the building itself is an ugly 1960s structure. That being the case, why should a bulky industrial complex [be] dumped on top of it to draw everyone’s attention to it? I object.”
Other messages have warned it will be visible to the Heath and look out of place next to the historic St Mary Brookfield Church.
