Four University of Queensland educators have received 2023 Awards for Teaching Excellence for their leadership and innovation.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Kris Ryan said all have made significant advances in teaching practices in their fields of health, education and languages.
“I am delighted that four accomplished educators are being celebrated for their outstanding contribution to education across The University of Queensland,” Professor Ryan said.
The Award winners are Dr Peter Crosthwaite for contributions to English language proficiency teaching, Dr Roma Forbes for health profession education and particularly physiotherapy, Associate Professor Jason Lodge for leadership in teacher education, and Dr Michael Thai for his engaging and inclusive approach in the School of Psychology.
This recognition coincides with Teaching and Learning (T&L) Week which focuses on sharing high quality education practice across UQ.
This year’s workshops, seminars and events will highlight UQ’s excellent teachers and tutors, along with teaching and learning initiatives around the theme of Synergy.
“The week has special focus on how UQ prepares students for future success by integrating all the elements of our UQ Graduate Attributes – connected citizens, influential communicators, respectful leaders, accomplished scholars, culturally capable, and courageous thinkers,” Professor Ryan said.
“It is an important opportunity to share new ideas and experiences so we can learn from one another and celebrate creative and innovative teaching and learning practices designed to enhance student learning.”
