Aimed at graduates from overseas, the industry-integrated Master of Engineering will welcome its first cohort in 2024 and can be completed within a year for eligible candidates—half the duration of a standard master’s degree.
The program includes a substantial 800-hour placement with one of La Trobe’s growing list of industry partners.
Over a 12-month period, utilising a combination of flexible learning and an industry placement, the program seeks to bridge the gap between academic study and employment in Australia.
For industry it’s a great opportunity to have access to a talent pool, building future engineers’ skill set, potential and loyalty.
The twelve-month program is comprised of four core modules designed in collaboration with industry experts to cultivate professional skills, enhance business expertise, and provides a minimum of 800 hours of practical experience through placement.
This program enables overseas qualified engineers to apply their skills in an Australian context, acquiring crucial local experience.
This not only accelerates their career in the engineering profession but also serves to break down the current barriers they may face.
La Trobe University is ranked in the top one per cent of universities globally and is particularly renowned for the expertise of its engineering department, which is rated “above world standard” by the Australian Research Council.
This year more than 95 percent of engineering graduates found full-time employment within four months of completing their course.
